COMMUNITY BUILDING & KNOWLEDGE SHARING

Bringing people together with shared interests or goals is a great passion of mine. Creating an environment and meeting or event cadence to share those best practices is a reward in itself. Below are some examples of how I’ve created communities and environments for knowledge sharing across the corporate and public sectors.

SUMMITS

At Activision-Blizzard-King, I produced many discipline specific communities who would connect with each other and share knowledge with each other in the form of discipline-specific virtual or hybrid summits. Here more about a few specific events:

I produced two summits and challenges for the internal VFX community at Blizzard. This meant collecting VFX footage from our games and stitching them into a fun and energetic hype reel to open up the virtual (year 1) and hybrid (year two) event. I also worked with a strike team and an amazing VFX lead to plan the program, coach presenters, handle press and event surveys, and manage facilities.

We also conducted VFX Challenges to increase engagement (offering awesome prizes didn’t hurt either) where participants could show off their skills animating a ball. This Challenge got a lot of attention in the press and was also used as a recruitment tool for our HR department.

MIXERS

Additionally, I produced many virtual mixers to allow game developers across the Microsoft Xbox ecosphere to connect with one another socially and professionally to share best practices. While producing these events, I also put together a community playbook to guide teams and groups on producing their own community mixers and learning events.
